1970's South Australian Opal, Diamond & Sapphire Cluster Ring

A bold contemporary cluster ring of elaborate design, crafted in 18ct yellow gold with a raised triple split "V" shoulder and a three-dimensional, free-form top constructed in a curled wire cage style.


The centrepiece is a South Australian oval cabochon cut solid white opal, surrounded by white gold wire claw and bezel settings housing dark blue sapphires and round brilliant cut diamonds. The ring is unstamped, with no maker’s marks, and is of fancy cast manufacture with overseas origin. A striking statement piece, notable for its sculptural form and vibrant gemstone arrangement.

Six round brilliant cut, assessed as G–I colour, VS–SI1 clarity, estimated total weight 0.36ct


Gemstones:

One solid white opal, oval cabochon cut, white body colour, average spectral colour display, estimated weight 8.00ct

Six dark blue sapphires, round cut, estimated total weight 1.00ct, good quality


Metal: 18ct yellow gold – XRF tested

Weight: 16.50 grams

Measurements: Top 30 x 25mm, shank 4.58mm wide, 1.46mm thick (opal 18.33mm x 10.75mm x 4.95mm)

Circa: 1970's

Condition: Very Good (minor surface marks and light wear visible on inspection)
